How Designer Dupe makes money.

Full FTC-compliant disclosure of our affiliate relationships, testing methodology, and independence policy. This page exists so you can decide if our editorial standard matches yours before you trust a recommendation.

Quick Answer Β· How does Designer Dupe make money?

Designer Dupe is funded by affiliate commissions from Amazon Associates and a smaller set of brand-direct affiliate networks (Skimlinks, ShareASale, brand DTC programs). When you buy through our links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We do not run display ads, accept sponsored content, or take paid placements. Editorial independence is the entire product.

The short version

When you click a product link on Designer Dupe and buy from Amazon (or certain partner brands), we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This commission funds the site. It does not influence which products we recommend. We do not accept payment for placement, sponsored reviews, or guaranteed coverage. We do reject affiliate links from products that underperform in our testing.

The long version

Amazon Associates

Designer Dupe is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click an Amazon link from any review on this site and complete a purchase within Amazon's standard cookie window, we earn a commission ranging from 1% to 10% depending on product category. The price you pay is identical to what you'd pay arriving at Amazon any other way.

Brand-direct affiliate programs

For products not available on Amazon β€” particularly independent jewelry makers (Mejuri, Adornia), Quince, smaller fragrance houses (Lattafa, Maison Alhambra, Dossier, ALT Fragrance), Belif, and select beauty brands β€” we participate in their direct affiliate programs through networks like Skimlinks, ShareASale, or direct brand partnerships. Commission rates vary by brand and product, typically 4-15%. Again: your price is unchanged.

What we do NOT do

How testing actually works

Every flagship review covers between 6 and 10 alternatives. Products are sourced through three channels:

  1. Self-purchase. The majority of products are purchased anonymously at retail (Amazon, Walmart, brand DTC). This is the gold-standard source because what we receive is what any customer would receive.
  2. Brand-provided samples. A minority of products come as PR samples directly from the brand. We disclose this in the body of each review with the note "[PR sample]" next to the product name. PR samples never influence ranking β€” we have ranked PR-sample products last in several reviews.
  3. Reader submissions. Occasionally readers send products they've tested. These are noted in the article and verified through our own testing.

Editorial independence policy

Designer Dupe is not owned by, partnered with, or financially supported by any of the prestige brands whose products we benchmark against (Charlotte Tilbury, NARS, Tatcha, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Le Labo, Tom Ford Beauty, YSL Beauty, Sol de Janeiro, Aesop, La Mer, Louis Vuitton, Birkenstock, UGG, Frye, Lululemon, Free People, Hermès, Bogg Bag, Goyard, or Spinelli Kilcollin). We are not owned by or financially affiliated with the dupe brands either (Lattafa, Dossier, Quince, CRZ Yoga, Maelove, Milani, e.l.f., Brandefy, Adornia, Mejuri, etc.).

Corrections policy

If we publish factually-incorrect information about a price, ingredient, material specification, or product feature, we issue corrections inline with a strikethrough on the old text and a brief note. For substantive errors that change the ranking, we update the article's dateModified timestamp and add an "Updated [date]" note at the top. We do not silently re-publish corrected articles.

FTC compliance

Every page on Designer Dupe carries a top-of-page affiliate disclosure bar. Every individual affiliate link uses rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" attributes for proper search engine signaling. This page exists as the consolidated, plain-language FTC-compliant disclosure required of US-based affiliate sites.
